Veterinary Emergencies
The following situations are examples of injuries and conditions that require emergency veterinarian care for your animal. If your pet is experiencing any of the symptoms listed below it's time to head to your nearest emergency animal hospital:
- Obvious signs of pain or extreme anxiety
- Severe bleeding or bleeding that doesn't stop
- Choking, difficulty breathing or continuous coughing/gagging
- Fractured bones or severe lameness
- Seizures and/or staggering
- Inability to urinate or pass feces, or pain associated with urinating or passing feces
- Bleeding from nose, mouth, rectum, or blood in urine
- Injuries to the eye(s)
- Severe or recurring vomiting or diarrhea; 2+ episodes in 24-hours
- Your pet has ingested a poisonous substance (such as antifreeze, xylitol, chocolate, rodent poison, etc.)
- Heat stress or heatstroke
- Unconsciousness
- Refusal to drink for 24 hours or more
